Hidden Tower
Jennifer lived and an average life of an average teen. To her it was the most boring life in the world. Nothing ever happened in the small city of Alachua. School was just as boring, the only interesting thing was who would show up high, drunk, or both, and what the school would smell like that day.
To escape her agricultural surroundings she spent hours reading the 'Hidden Tower' series. They were her portal to another world. Cannan was the magical place where the adventure seeking princess was being forced to marry a kind and quiet prince. Normally the princess would have agreed if he was dashing, fought demons, heroic, and would take her to exotic places. However, he was the studious type, he knew how to used a sword but rarely did. He was a scholar in the University his father founded.
The prince loved the princess and was willing to do whatever she wanted. But like most fairy tales there was another who was in love with the princess. A Demon Lord of the Northern region Amitala. On her third birthday he sent a message that if she ever wanted anything all she would have to do is call his name and make a wish. And whatever it was he would grant it. Soon though, his message was forgotten and the princess never knew.
On the eve of her wedding she made the mistake of speaking his name and wishing to be taken to another land on an adventure and not have to get married. In that instant the Demon Lord heard and answered. She was transported to a forest where she met him. He told her that he granted her wish and now she could go on her adventures with him. Immediately she refused, and he left her to deal with everything on her own.
During each adventure he appeared and offered to let her reign with him. She had to out smart desert bandits, solve the mystery of the beasts, survive with the pirates, and prove herself to the under belly of the black market. Then like all fairy tales she realizes that sometimes people aren't what they seem and she marries the Prince.
Jennifer wanted to live in a world like that the princess but the only thing she had in common with her is that they shared the same name. Now and then Jennifer would go into the woods and act out the parts in the story. She had never said the words the princess said because she never really wanted to leave or risk it. But when a boy begins to follow her to the point of stalking she decides to try the words, not knowing what will happen or even if anything will happen.
